The Crisis Management Center (CMC) was established as an independent body of the state administration based on the Law on Crisis Management, adopted by the Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia on 22 April 2005 and proclaimed by decree in May of the same year. The Center officially started operating on 5 October 2005, establishing a single system for prevention, early warning and management of crises that pose a risk to the safety, property and health of citizens. Within this system, together with the Steering Committee and the Assessment Group, the CMC has a key coordination role between state institutions, local self-government and other entities involved in crisis management. Over the years, the Center has developed by improving the legal framework, organizational structure and technical and technological capacities, with the aim of more efficient risk monitoring, timely information and organized response to natural disasters, technical and technological incidents and other crisis situations on the territory of the state.
